Roofer in Lancaster

A roofer for Lancaster’s slate, stone and tile roofs

Roofs work hard in this part of Lancashire. Much of Lancaster's older housing is stone terraces with natural slate roofs, stone copings and tall chimney stacks, while homes out towards Morecambe and Heysham face the wind and rain coming in off the bay. Slipped slates, tired leadwork, cracked ridge mortar and overflowing gutters are the everyday result.

JK Roofing Lancashire looks after roofs right across the county, and Lancaster is one of the areas we cover. Whether you need a roofer for a small repair or roofing work on a whole house, you get a free quote before anything starts, and we clear up properly when the job is done.

Recent job

A one-side re-roof, start to finish

In June 2026 we re-roofed one side of an extension in Fulwood, Preston. The old concrete tiles were heavy with moss, so we stripped that side and rebuilt it from the membrane up.

  • New breathable membrane
  • New treated battens
  • New roof tiles
  • Dry ridge system
  • Dry verge system
  • New uPVC fascia boards
  • New gutters and downpipe
  • Waste removed, site left clean and tidy

Know the signs

When to call a roofer

Roofs rarely fail overnight. These are the early warnings worth acting on while the fix is still small.

  • Slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles
  • Damp patches or stains on ceilings and chimney breasts
  • Mortar missing from ridge tiles, verges or the chimney
  • Gutters that overflow, sag or drip at the joints
  • Standing water, blisters or cracks on a flat roof
  • Daylight or damp timber when you look in the loft

FAQs

Roofing services in Lancaster: your questions answered

What roofing services do you offer in Lancaster?

We cover all aspects of roofing: new roofs and re-roofs, roof repairs, slate and tile replacement, flat roofs, chimney repairs and repointing, leadwork, ridge tiles and verges, fascias, soffits and guttering, storm damage repairs, emergency call outs, and roof inspections and advice. No job is too small.

Do you give free roofing quotes in Lancaster?

Yes. Quotes are free. Call 07305 566995 or use the Get In Touch form, tell us where the property is and what you have noticed, and we will arrange to look at the roof and price the work.

Is JK Roofing Lancashire insured?

Yes. JK Roofing Lancashire is fully insured, and you are welcome to ask to see the insurance details before any work starts.

How much does a new roof cost in Lancaster?

It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the covering you choose, how easy the roof is to reach and what we find under the old tiles or slates. That is why we look at the roof before we price it. The quote is free and sets out what the price covers.

How do I know whether my roof needs repairing or replacing?

One-off damage such as a few slipped slates, a cracked tile or a lifted piece of flashing can usually be repaired. If slates or tiles are failing all over the roof, the felt underneath has perished or leaks keep coming back in new places, a re-roof is often better value. We will show you what we find and explain both options.

Can you repair a leaking roof in an emergency?

Yes, we take emergency call outs. Phone 07305 566995 rather than using the form, tell us what is happening and we will tell you when we can get to you. The first job is to stop the water coming in. The lasting repair follows once the roof is safe.

Do you work on slate roofs and older houses?

Yes. Much of Lancaster's older housing has natural slate roofs, stone copings and tall chimney stacks, so slate replacement, leadwork and chimney repointing are everyday work for a roofer here. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with Lancaster City Council before changing the roof covering.

Which areas around Lancaster do you cover?

Lancaster itself, Morecambe, Heysham, Carnforth, Halton, Caton, Galgate, Garstang and the villages in between, 28 local areas in all. We work across the rest of Lancashire too. The coverage page has the full list.
